Dear Mr. & Mrs. Gelman,

I apologize for the distance I've kept since Jascha's passing. I want you to know that I think about you and Gabe each and every day. There is nothing I would not do for you. Jascha, as you know, was a dear friend of mine. We crammed more in to 8 years than most friends do in a lifetime. I will forever take with me a seemingly endless line of inside jokes and stories and moments. No one made me laugh like your son could, and quite honestly, I don't think anyone ever will. His passing has left a massive void in my life, but without question I cherish all of the wonderful times we spent together. I consider myself lucky to have had a friend like him.

I also want you to know that I will always look after Gabe for you. I know that he is having a very difficult time getting through this. I think in some sort of strange way, we have a symbiotic relationship; We each view the other as an extension of Jascha. I hope I can help him get through this as much as he is helping me.  My thoughts are always with you. I am here if you need me.

Love,
Erik Wildstein
